Introduction
Caterol 75 is used for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder(COPD) ,a lung disorder in which flow of air to the lung is blocked. It helps in relaxing the muscles of the air passages, thus widening it and making it easier to breathe.
Caterol 75 is only for the inhalational purpose, so do not swallow the capsule. The first dose is given under medical supervision to prevent the side effects happen during first use. For better results, it is suggested to take it at the same time every day. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you. It does not prevent the already started breathing trouble or COPD attack, hence always carry your medical inhaler with you for an emergency. Always use the mouthpiece to come along with the package.
The most common side effects of this medicine include cold-like symptoms, runny nose, headache, cough, and dizziness. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. Generally, it is advised to avoid alcohol while on treatment as it may affect heart rate.

Indication
Indacaterol Maleate is indicated for maintenance bronchodilator treatment of airflow obstruction in adult patients with, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and/or emphysema.

Maintenance therapy in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Adult: As inhal cap: Inhale 75-150 mcg once daily using inhaler.
Max: 300 mcg once daily.
Hepatic impairment
No dose adjustment is required for patients with mild and moderate hepatic impairment.
There are no data available for use of Onbrez Breezhaler in patients with severe hepatic impairment.

Contraindication
All LABA are contraindicated in patients with asthma without use of a long-term asthma control medication. Indacaterol is not indicated for the treatment of asthma. Indacaterol is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to indacaterol or to any of the ingredients.
Mode of Action
Indacaterol is a long acting β2-adrenergic agonist. It relaxes the bronchial smooth muscle by selective action on β2-receptor which acts locally in the lungs and w/ little effect on heart rate.
Precaution
Not intended for treatment of asthma and acute deterioration of COPD. Patient w/ acutely deteriorating COPD, thyrotoxicosis, seizure disorders, DM, hypokalaemia, CV disorders esp coronary insufficiency, cardiac arrhythmias or HTN. Pregnancy and lactation.
Lactation: Unknown whether distributed in human breast milk; use caution
Potentiated adverse effects w/ other sympathomimetic agents; possible hypokalaemic effect w/ methylxanthine derivatives, steroids or non-K-sparing diuretics. Other long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonists or medicinal products containing long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonists. Inhibition of the key contributors of indacaterol clearance, CYP3A4 and P-gp.
