Retino-A (Tretinoin) is a topical form of vitamin A which is applied to the skin to treat acne. Retino-A (Tretinoin) is applied topically to the face. Patients should ask their doctor if they are unsure of the proper application procedure. You must ensure that your hands, as well as the area of skin requiring treatment are clean before you apply the cream. Use a gentle cleanser to wash your face, and gently dry it. Your doctor may tell you to apply it once per day, just before you go to bed. In some cases, 8 to 12 weeks of applying this cream may be required in order for the full benefits to be noticed. Acne may appear to worsen at the start of treatment, however, with continued treatment it should improve. Keep using the cream as directed by your doctor.
