How Ancor A 2.5/5 works
Ancor A 2.5/5 is a combination of two medicines: Amlodipine and Bisoprolol, which lowers blood pressure effectively. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker which works by relaxing blood vessels while bisoprolol is a beta blocker that works specifically on the heart to slow down the heart rate. Together, they make the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body.
Indication
Treatment of mild to moderate hypertension
Adult Dose
Oral
Adult
1 tablet once daily
Contraindication
Cardiogenic shock, overt cardiac failure, second or third degree AV block, and marked sinus bradycardia and known sensitivity to amlodipine/bisoprolol.
Mode of Action
Bisoprolol selectively and competitively blocks β1-receptors but has little or no effect on β2-receptors except at high doses.
Amlodipine relaxes peripheral and coronary vascular smooth muscle. It produces coronary vasodilation by inhibiting the entry of Ca ions into the slow channels or select voltage-sensitive channels of the vascular smooth muscle and myocardium during depolarisation. It also increases myocardial oxygen delivery in patients w/ vasospastic angina.
Precaution
Bisoprolol: Overt congestive cardiac failure, abrupt cessation of therapy, peripheral vascular disease, bronchospastic disease, anesthesia and major surgery, diabetes and hypoglycaemia and thyrotoxicosis.
Amlodipine: Severe aortic stenosis, congestive heart failure and hepatic failure
