Introduction

Remino nutritional supplement contains amino acids, partly in form of there corresponding ketoanalogues, essential for patients with chronic kidney disease. It follows same catabolic pathways as amino acids and works by improving the metabolism of protein in the body, thereby improving the renal function. Remino allows the intake of essential amino acids while minimizing the amino-nitrogen intake. The keto- and hydroxy-analogues are transaminated to the corresponding essential amino acids by taking nitrogen from non-essential amino acids, thereby decreasing the formation of urea by re-using the amino group, and causes absorption to occur.

What if you forget to take Remino

Brief Description

Indication

Prevention and treatment of damage caused by improper or insufficient protein metabolism in chronic renal disease patients with a dietary protein intake of 40 g or less (adult).

Administration

Swallow whole. The tablets must not be chewed.Food should contain 40 g/day protein or less (adults). Ingestion during meals facilitates proper absorption and the metabolisation into the corresponding amino acids.

Adult Dose

Take 4-8 tablets three times a day during meals. This dosage is for adults that weigh 70 kg.

Child Dose

As prescribed by the physician.

Renal Dose

These tablets are given as long as the GFR is between 5 and about 25mL/minute.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to any of the excipients or the active ingredients, abnormal metabolism of amino acids and hypercalcemia.

Precaution

It is important to routinely check the serum calcium level. Make sure to consume enough calories. It is important to note that Amino Acid Keto Analogues contain phenylalanine in the event of hereditary phenylketonuria. (15) When administering aluminum hydroxide concurrently, monitoring of the serum phosphate levels is necessary.

Side Effect

Hypercalcemia (very uncommon), Vitamin D consumption needs to be decreased if hypercalcaemia develops. Reduce the amount of Amino Acid Keto Analogues and any other calcium sources it consume if this hypercalcaemia doesn't go away.

Pregnancy & Lactation Category Note

The usage of Amino Acid Keto Analogues in pregnant women has not been adequately studied. Pregnancy, embryonic/fetal development, parturition, or postnatal development are not shown to be negatively impacted by animal research, either directly or indirectly. When giving medication to expectant patients, care should be taken. There is currently no experience using it during lactating.

Interaction

The dosage of this medication must be lowered if aluminum hydroxide is administered.Amino acid keto analogues should not be taken concurrently with medications that form hardly soluble compounds with calcium, such as tetracyclines, quinolones like ciprofloxacin and norfloxacin, as well as medications containing iron, fluoride, or estramustine, to prevent disrupted absorption of the active ingredient. When consuming these medications and alpha ketoanalogue together, a minimum of two hours should pass.Drugs containing calcium that are administered concurrently may raise or increase serum calcium levels.
