Kaniva Cat Food Products in Bangladesh
Kaniva is a cat brand and nothing else. Every listing here feeds a cat, tops up a cat’s bowl or holds a cat’s dinner. There is no dog line and no litter.
The whole range files under Cat. The sections below sort it by what each product does, rather than by bag size.
Dry Food by Formula
The dry side is the deepest part of the range. The words after “Kaniva Cat Food” are the formula; the words after that are the flavour.
Growth and Balance — kittens and cats still filling out
The growth formula, and the one most people arrive looking for. Kaniva Cat Food Growth & Balance Chicken, Egg & Rice 370g is the trial-sized bag. Kaniva Cat Food Growth & Balance Chicken, Egg & Rice 1.3kg is the one to move to once you know the cat eats it.
A household-sized bag exists too: kaniva Growth and Balance Cat Food with Chicken & Egg And rice 2.8kg. It is registered with a different spelling from its two siblings, so searching the grid for the wording on the smaller bag will not surface it.
Fit & Active — adult cats of any age
The all-ages formula comes in Kaniva Cat Food Fit & Active Formula Chicken, Liver, Egg for All Ages 400g and the larger Kaniva Cat Food Fit & Active Formula Chicken, Liver, Egg & Rice for All Ages 1.5kg. Liver is the flavour driver, and it often wins over a cat that has gone off plain chicken kibble.
Indoor Formula — cats that do not go out
An indoor cat burns less and grooms more, so indoor formulas carry fewer calories and more fibre to move swallowed hair through. Kaniva Indoor Formula Cat Food Salmon & Turkey 370g is the version listed here.
Skin & Coat — for a dull coat
The fish-led formula is Kaniva Skin & Coat Adult Cat Food Tuna, Ocean Fish & Rice 2.8kg. A dull coat often improves on more fish oil in the diet. A coat flaking in patches, or a cat scratching itself bald, is a skin problem rather than a food problem and wants a vet.
The mixed-household bag
One listing sits outside the formula names. Kaniva Chicken, Tuna and Rice Cat Food for Adult & Kitten 400g is labelled for both, which helps where a kitten and an adult share a bowl and nobody polices who eats what.
Grain Free Dry Food
Grain free is the largest sub-range Kaniva has on Arogga. It is worth being clear about what it is before paying more for it.
The bags
- Kaniva Grain Free Formula Cat Food (Chicken & Tuna) 370g
- Kaniva Grain Free Cat Food Chicken & Tuna 2.7kg
- Kaniva Grain Free Cat Food Salmon & Tuna 1.2kg
- Kaniva Grain Free Cat Food Indoor Formula 2.5kg
What grain free does and does not mean
It means the carbohydrate comes from potato, pea or tapioca instead of wheat, corn or rice. It does not mean low carbohydrate, and it does not mean more meat. A grain-free kibble still needs starch to hold its shape.
A cat with a genuine grain sensitivity is uncommon. Most food reactions in cats trace to a protein the cat has eaten for years. That is why an elimination trial changes the meat, not the starch.
The heart question, answered plainly
Much of what is written online links grain-free pet food to dilated cardiomyopathy. That investigation concerned dogs and remains unresolved. In cats the heart link runs through taurine instead.
Taurine is an amino acid cats cannot make enough of and must eat. A taurine-deficient diet causes heart muscle disease and retinal damage. So the answer is not to avoid grain-free food, but to feed something formulated as complete for cats, which taurine is a required part of. A cat breathing fast at rest, tiring quickly or gone weak in the back legs needs a vet the same day.
The Fusion Range
Fusion is the functional dry line. Same kibble format, with a specific emphasis attached to each bag:
- Kaniva Cat Food Fusion Immunity - Tuna & Sweet Potato 1kg — the immune-support one
- Kaniva Fusion Beauty Salmon and Sweet Potato 500g — aimed at coat and skin
- Kaniva Cat Food Chicken & Pumpkin Fusion Multi-Vitamins 1kg — the general one
Read the names as emphasis rather than a medical claim. All three are complete dry foods; what changes is the flavour and the nutrients printed on the front.
Wet Food: Pouches and a Can
Wet food matters more for cats than most owners expect. Cats evolved to take most of their water from prey, and they drink poorly. A diet that is entirely dry leaves many cats mildly underhydrated for life.
The gravy pouches
- Kaniva Cat Pouch Tuna with Lamb In Gravy 70gm
- Kaniva Cat Pouch Tuna with Lobster In Gravy 70gm
- Kaniva Cat Pouch Tuna with Scallop In Gravy 70gm
Gravy against jelly, in practice
Gravy is thin and carries more water into the cat; jelly is set and carries less. Cats hold firm opinions about which they will eat, usually settled by a year old. For a cat raised on kibble, gravy is the easier start, because it stirs into the dry.
The kitten can
Kaniva Mother Cat & Kitten with Top Chicken Canned Food (Birthday Cake) 170g is the only canned listing. It is aimed at a queen feeding a litter and at kittens moving off milk. A nursing cat needs far more food than she did before the litter.
Toppings and Supplement Pouches Are Not Meals
This is the part of the range most often misread, and getting it wrong does harm over months rather than days.
What a topping is for
The soft-jelly toppings exist to make a bowl interesting. They go on top of a complete food, for a cat that has stopped eating well, is recovering from something, or simply needs persuading.
- Kaniva Tuna Topping Katsuobushi (Soft Jelly) 70g
- Kaniva Tuna Topping Scallop (Soft Jelly) 70g
- Kaniva Tuna Topping Squid (Soft Jelly) 70g
Fed alone and long enough, tuna toppings are a route to nutritional deficiency. A flavour product is not built to carry the taurine, calcium and vitamin balance a cat needs.
The supplement pouches
The same idea covers the two supplement pouches. One is Kaniva Supplement Pouch Skin & Coat with Tuna Topping Scallop & Shrimp In Gravy for All Ages (Skin Problem) 70g. The other is Kaniva Supplement Pouch Skin & Coat with Tuna Topping Crab Meat In Soft Jelly for All Ages (Skin Problem) 70g. The word in both names is supplement; they sit alongside the diet.
The bracketed “Skin Problem” describes who might use them, not a treatment. A skin problem that is spreading, weeping or being scratched raw needs diagnosing. Fleas, mites and allergy look alike from across the room, and none of them resolves with a pouch.
Treats, and How Much Is Too Much
The range has one treat listing, Kaniva Cat Treats Creamy Chicken with Chicken Freeze Bits (15g X 50 Sachets), in a multi-sachet box designed to be handed out one at a time.
The working rule among vets is that treats stay under about a tenth of what a cat eats in a day. Cats are small, so that allowance goes faster than it does for a dog.
Bag Sizes, Storage and Bowls
Buy the bag the cat will finish
Dry cat food is coated in fat, and fat turns rancid once air reaches it. An opened bag has a working life of about a month. A large bag bought for one cat can turn before it is eaten, and cats detect that well before people do.
Storing dry food in this climate
Humidity is the other problem. Kibble absorbs moisture readily, and damp kibble grows mould. Roll the bag down and clip it, then keep it inside an airtight container rather than tipping it loose. Keep it off a kitchen floor that gets washed.
The bowl
One accessory is listed: Kaniva Stainless Steel Pet Dish. Steel suits a cat because it does not scratch the way plastic does, and scratched plastic holds bacteria and oils that many cats react to around the chin.
Wet Food and the Heat
An opened pouch behaves like any other cooked meat in a warm room, and a Dhaka afternoon is a warm room. Leaving a bowl down all day is how a cat gets a bad stomach, and how ants find the feeding spot.
Warming a chilled pouch in a microwave is the other thing to avoid. It heats unevenly and leaves pockets hot enough to burn a mouth.
Switching Your Cat to Kaniva
Change the food over a week rather than overnight. A quarter new to three quarters old for two days, then half and half, then three quarters, then all of it. A cat’s gut bacteria need that long to adjust.
Diarrhoea with blood, vomiting, or a cat that has stopped eating is a different matter entirely. Ring a vet rather than wait. Cats dehydrate quickly, and one that has not eaten for two days is in real trouble.
Cats and Dogs in the Same House
A dog raiding the cat’s bowl mostly gains weight, because cat food is richer and more protein-dense. The reverse is the serious direction, and it is covered in the questions below.
Feeding the cat somewhere the dog cannot follow — a shelf, a counter, a room with a door — solves both at once.
Where Kaniva Sits on Arogga
Almost everything files under Cat Food, then splits by format:
- The bags sit on Cat Dry Food, where Kaniva can be compared against every other brand stocked.
- The pouches and the can sit on Cat Wet Food, narrowing to Pouch and Can.
- The sachet box sits on Cat Treats.
- The multi-vitamin bags also carry Pet Supplement & Nutrition, and the dish sits on Pet Accessories.
About Kaniva
Kaniva is a cat food brand sold in Bangladesh through pet retailers and pharmacies, built around a dry range organised by life stage with a smaller wet range alongside.
On Arogga it arrives as a single-species catalogue: dry bags from trial sizes up to household ones, wet food in 70g portions, and a feeding dish. Bag weights, ingredient panels, feeding charts and availability are printed on each product page rather than here, because they change with the pack.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is grain free cat food better for my cat?
Not automatically. Grain free swaps wheat, corn or rice for potato, pea or tapioca. It is not lower in carbohydrate and not higher in meat. It helps a cat with a diagnosed grain sensitivity, which is uncommon. What matters far more is that the food is formulated as complete for cats.
2. Are the tuna toppings a complete meal?
No. The soft-jelly toppings and the supplement pouches go on top of a complete food, to make a bowl more appealing. A cat fed on toppings alone for weeks will run short of taurine, calcium and fat-soluble vitamins.
3. How long can wet food sit in the bowl?
About half an hour in the heat here, then lift it and wash the bowl. A part-used pouch keeps covered in the fridge for a day. Bring it back to room temperature before offering it, rather than microwaving it.
4. Can I mix Kaniva wet and dry food?
Yes, and many cats do better that way, because the wet food carries water the cat would not otherwise drink. Mix them in one bowl, or feed wet in the evening and leave dry down. Count both towards the daily total rather than adding one on top of the other.
5. Can my dog eat cat food, or my cat eat dog food?
A dog stealing cat food will gain weight but is not in danger. A cat kept on dog food is. Dog food does not supply the taurine, vitamin A and arachidonic acid a cat cannot make for itself, and the result over time is heart and eye damage. Feed them apart.
6. Which Kaniva food suits a kitten?
The Growth & Balance bags are the growth formula. The Mother Cat & Kitten can suits kittens coming off milk and a queen feeding a litter. The Chicken, Tuna and Rice bag is labelled for adults and kittens together, which is simpler in a mixed household.
7. My cat has loose stool after switching. What should I do?
Slow the change down. Go back to a mix that was working and move more gradually over ten days. If it is still loose a week later, or there is blood, vomiting or a refusal to eat, call a vet. Cats dehydrate fast.
8. How should I store an opened bag?
Rolled down and clipped, inside an airtight container, somewhere dry and out of the sun. Keep the food in its own bag inside the container rather than tipping it loose, so the batch code and date stay with it. Aim to finish an opened bag within about a month.
