Vaccine Price in Bangladesh
This shelf holds vaccines, which train the body to fight an infection before it happens, and immunoglobulins and antisera, which give ready-made antibodies for immediate protection after exposure. All of them are given by a doctor or nurse, and all of them must be kept cold from the moment they are made until the injection.
Vaccines, Anti-Sera & Immunoglobulin sits under Vaccines, Anti-Sera & Immunological Drug.
Vaccines on This Shelf
| Protects against | Commonly given to |
|---|---|
| Rabies | Anyone bitten or scratched by a dog, cat, monkey or mongoose; vets and animal handlers |
| Hepatitis A and B | Children and adults not yet protected; health workers |
| Influenza | Older adults, pregnant women, people with diabetes, heart or lung disease |
| Pneumococcus | Infants, older adults, people with chronic illness |
| Meningococcus (ACWY) | Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, students abroad |
| Rotavirus, combination infant vaccines | Babies, on the paediatrician’s schedule |
After an Animal Bite
Rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms appear, and almost always preventable. Wash the wound at once with soap and running water for fifteen minutes, then go to a hospital the same day, even for a small scratch. The doctor decides the vaccine schedule and whether rabies immunoglobulin is also needed for a deep or head-and-neck bite. Complete every dose. Government hospitals provide rabies vaccine free of charge. Wound antiseptics are on Antiseptic Cream & Spray.
Children’s Vaccines
Bangladesh’s Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) gives the core childhood vaccines free at government centres. Private vaccines such as rotavirus, hepatitis A, and some combination and pneumococcal brands are optional extras that a paediatrician may recommend. Keep the child’s vaccination card and bring it to every visit.
Keeping the Cold Chain
- Fridge, not freezer — store between two and eight degrees; freezing ruins most vaccines.
- Straight into the fridge — as soon as the order arrives, in the main compartment, not the door.
- Cool box to the clinic — with ice packs wrapped so they do not touch the vial.
- Show the clinic — staff check the vial, its expiry and its heat indicator before use.
Immunoglobulins and Antisera
Tetanus immunoglobulin protects after a dirty wound in someone not fully vaccinated; rabies immunoglobulin protects while the vaccine takes effect; snake antivenom treats venomous bites in hospital; and human normal immunoglobulin is given for immune deficiencies and some autoimmune conditions. All are hospital medicines chosen by a doctor.
Hajj, Umrah and Travel
Saudi Arabia requires a meningococcal ACWY vaccine for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, usually at least ten days before travel, recorded on a certificate. Some countries require yellow fever vaccination. Check requirements with the embassy or your travel clinic well ahead of departure.
Pregnancy and Vaccines
Tetanus toxoid is given routinely in pregnancy in Bangladesh, and inactivated flu vaccine is considered safe and protects both mother and newborn. Live vaccines such as yellow fever, measles-rubella and oral rotavirus are generally avoided in pregnancy. Tell the doctor if you are or may be pregnant before any vaccine.
After the Injection
Soreness at the injection site, a mild fever or tiredness for a day or two is normal. Staff ask you to wait a short while after the injection in case of an allergic reaction. Seek urgent help for difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, or a high fever that does not settle.
Vaccine Price in Bangladesh
Locally supplied rabies and hepatitis B vaccines cost least; imported conjugate, rotavirus and combination infant vaccines cost considerably more per dose.
Searches like rotateq vaccine price in bangladesh lead here. Many vaccines need two or more doses weeks apart, so ask the doctor for the full schedule and plan every dose rather than just the first.
Other immune system medicines are on Allergy & Immune System.
