Overview
The MMR Immunity Profile (IgG) test checks for IgG antibodies against Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)viruses. It helps determine immunity status, either from vaccination or previous infection.
Risk Assessment
This test is useful for:
- Healthcare workers (exposure risk)
- Pregnant women (Rubella risk to fetus)
- Travelers (to endemic areas)
- People with weak immune systems
- Before MMR vaccination (checking existing immunity)
People lacking immunity may need MMR vaccination.
Normal Range
- Measles IgG: >10 IU/mL (immune)
- Mumps IgG: >10 IU/mL (immune)
- Rubella IgG: >10 IU/mL (immune).
Interpretation of Results
- Positive IgG (>1.1 AI or >10 IU/mL) → Immune (from past infection or vaccination)
- Negative IgG (<0.8 AI or <10 IU/mL) → Not immune, may require vaccination
- Equivocal (0.8–1.1 AI) → Unclear, retesting or vaccination may be needed.
Sample Type
- Blood Sample (Serum)
- Collected via venipuncture
- Requires no fasting.
