Description

The OGTT-2 is a test that measures the body's ability to handle glucose. It involves two blood samples: one taken after fasting (FBS) and the second taken 2 hours after consuming a 75g glucose solution. This test helps diagnose diabetes or pre-diabetes. Note : Arogga will provide 75 gm glucose (charge applicable)

How our test process works!

Step 1

Sample Collection

Vaccinated Phlebotomists collects from syringe in the barcoded vials

Step 2

Sample Storage

Only vaccinated phelbos are assigned orders

Step 3

High Tech Facility

Lab ingests the sample into processing machines which are 100% automated

Step 4

Accurate Digital Reports

The reports are generated by the processing machines and clinically correlated by doctors

Overview

Overview

  • The OGTT-2 measures blood glucose levels at two key points:
    1. Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS): The glucose level after fasting overnight (usually 8–12 hours).
    2. 2 Hours Post Glucose Load: The glucose level measured exactly 2 hours after ingesting a glucose solution containing 75 grams of glucose.
Risk Assessment

Risk Assessment

The test helps in identifying:

  • Diabetes mellitus: An inability to effectively manage blood sugar levels.
  • Impaired fasting glucose (IFG): Higher-than-normal fasting blood sugar levels, but not high enough to be classified as diabetes.
  • Impaired glucose tolerance (IGT): Blood sugar levels that are higher than normal but not in the diabetic range, as indicated by the 2-hour post-load value.

People at risk of glucose metabolism disorders (e.g., obesity, hypertension, family history of diabetes) might undergo this test for early detection.

Normal Range

Normal Range

  • Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS): <100 mg/dL (5.6 mmol/L)
  • 2 Hours Post-Glucose Load: <140 mg/dL (7.8 mmol/L).
Interpretation of Results

Interpretation of Results

  • Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS):
    • Normal: <100 mg/dL (5.6 mmol/L)
    • Impaired fasting glucose (IFG): 100–125 mg/dL (5.6–6.9 mmol/L)
    • Diabetes: ≥126 mg/dL (7.0 mmol/L)
  • 2-Hour Post-Glucose Load:
    • Normal: <140 mg/dL (7.8 mmol/L)
    • Impaired glucose tolerance (IGT): 140–199 mg/dL (7.8–11.0 mmol/L)
    • Diabetes: ≥200 mg/dL (11.1 mmol/L).
Sample Type

Sample Type

The test requires a blood sample. The first sample is drawn after fasting (FBS), and the second sample is taken exactly 2 hours after consuming a glucose solution.
