Interpretation

Elevated Amylase Levels: Higher levels may indicate acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis, or pancreatic cancer. Elevated amylase can also occur in conditions such as salivary gland disorders, kidney failure, or gastrointestinal issues.

Decreased Amylase Levels: Lower levels can suggest chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic insufficiency, or a condition where the pancreas is not producing enough amylase. It can also occur in some cases of severe liver disease.
