How Repres PLUS 2/625 works
Repres PLUS 2/625 is a combination of two medicines: Perindopril and indapamide which lower blood pressure effectively. Perindopril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by reducing stress on the heart and relaxing blood vessels so that blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently. Indapamide is a diuretic that removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.

- It also lowers your risk of stroke and heart attack.
- Take it in the morning with breakfast, to avoid getting up at night to urinate.
- Repres PLUS 2/625 may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
- To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
- Inform you doctor about any cough, or throat irritation that doesn't go away.
- Repres PLUS 2/625 may cause dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids and Inform your doctor if you develop extreme thirst, muscle weakness or very dry mouth.
- Your doctor may regularly monitor your blood pressure, kidney function and the levels of salts such as potassium in your blood while you are taking this medicine.
- Do not take Repres PLUS 2/625 if you’re pregnant or planning pregnancy. It can cause birth defects or be fatal to your unborn baby.

Contraindication
Hypersensitivity. Severe renal impairment (CrCl <30 ml/min), hypokalaemia, severe hepatic impairment or hepatic encephalopathy, history of angioedema associated with treatment with an ACE inhibitor, children. Dialysis patients or patients with untreated decompensated heart failure. Hereditary/idiopathic angioneurotic oedema. Pregnancy and lactation.
Mode of Action
Perindopril is an ACE inhibitor, which acts by inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, reducing the activity of the sympathetic nervous system and inhibiting enzyme kininase, which is involved in the conversion of bradykinin and other substances. Indapamide is a sulfonamide derivative with an indole ring. It inhibits the reabsorption of sodium in the cortical dilution segment, thus increasing urinary output, resulting in an antihypertensive effect.
Precaution
Impaired renal function, risk of hypotension and electrolyte imbalance. Regular monitoring of renal function and plasma levels of potassium are recommended. Blood glucose levels should be monitored in diabetic patients especially in those with low serum potassium levels. Increased risk of neutropenia/agranulocytosis in immunosuppressed patients. Treatment should be discontinued immediately if there is angioneurotic oedema of the face, extremities, lips, tongue, glottis and/or larynx.
Side Effect
Dry cough, headache, bradycardia, dizziness, asthenia, hypokalaemia and orthostatic hypotension. GI effects such as constipation, dry mouth, nausea, epigastric pain, anorexia, abdominal pain and taste disturbance.
Interaction
Additive effect with other antihypertensive agents and diuretics. Increased chance of hypokalaemia with corticosteroids, corticotropin and amphotericin.
Potentially Fatal: Increased risk of lithium toxicity. Hypokalaemia enhances digitalis toxicity with cardiac gycosides.
