How Axet 750mg IV/IM works
Axet 750mg IV/IM is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from forming the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is needed for them to survive.
What if you forget to take Axet 750mg IV/IM?
If you miss a dose of Axet 750mg IV/IM, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Quick Tips
- Your doctor has prescribed Axet 750mg IV/IM to cure your infection and improve your symptoms.
- Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.
- Discontinue Axet 750mg IV/IM and inform your doctor immediately if you get a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or have difficulty in breathing.

Tab: May be taken with or without food. Oral susp: Should be taken with food. Renal Dose
Renal impairment: Patients undergoing haemodialysis should receive an additional 750-mg dose after each dialysis; those undergoing continuous peritoneal dialysis may be given 750 mg bid.

Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.
Mode of Action
Cefuroxime binds to one or more of the penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) which inhibits the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell wall, thus inhibiting biosynthesis and arresting cell wall assembly resulting in bacterial cell death.
Precaution
Severe renal impairment; pregnancy, lactation; hypersensitivity to penicillins.
Lactation: Drug excreted in breast milk; use with caution

May enhance the nephrotoxic effect of strong-acting diuretics (e.g. furosemide) and aminoglycosides. May enhance the effect of oral anticoagulants. May reduce the efficacy of OCs. Probenecid prolongs the excretion of cefuroxime and elevated peak serum level.
