Introduction

Fentigal belongs to a group of medicines called antifungals. It works by stopping the growth of fungus and is used to treat infections of the mouth, throat, vagina and other parts of the body including fingernails and toenails. It kills fungi by destroying the fungal cell membrane. Fentigal is for external use only. You should use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It is best to use it at night time for better results. Do not use the medicine for longer than your doctor has told you to and let him or her know if your condition does not improve after 2 to 4 weeks of treatment. The affected area should be clean before using the medicine. You must wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying this medicine. Do not stop using it until you have finished the complete course, even when you feel better. Some of the common side effects include vaginal burning sensation, itching, and irritation. If the side effects bother you or do not go away, let your doctor know. It makes condoms and diaphragm less effective, ask your doctor about suitable birth control method. How to use Fentigal

Administration

Vaginal administration: Insert one VT high into the vagina in the evening before going to bed (this is easiest when lying on back with knees bent up).

The main mechanism of action of fenticonazole is based on the inhibition of the synthesis of aspartate acid proteinase, a virulence enzyme of Candida albicans correlated with the adherence of the yeast to epithelial cells. This activity is quite peculiar as it was not observed with fluconazole, ketoconazole and miconazole.
