How to use Povidex
Check the label before use. Take the mouthwash in the quantity as advised by your doctor and put it in your mouth. Swish for 30 seconds to 1 minute and spit it. Do not swallow. Avoid eating, drinking, or smoking for at least 30 minutes after rinsing.

What if you forget to take Povidex?
If you miss a dose of Povidex, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
Quick Tips
- Povidex helps treat infections of the lining of the mouth and throat, such as gingivitis and mouth ulcers.
- It may also be used to maintain oral hygiene before, during and after dental and oral surgery.
- Gargle or rinse the mouth with Povidex for up to 30 seconds. It should not be swallowed.
- Do not use for more than 14 days without talking to your doctor first.

Indication
Skin infections, Wound infection, Decubitus ulcers
Adult Dose
Adult:
As cream: For the treatment of infection: Apply once or twice daily or at dressing changes for a maximum of 14 days.
For the prevention of infection: Apply once or twice a week for as long as necessary.
Apply cream directly to the affected area after being cleaned and dried. May be covered with a dressing or bandage.
Contraindication
Regular use is contraindicated in patients or users with thyroid disorders (in particular nodular colloid goitre, endemic goiter and Hashimotos thyroiditis). Not for use in infants under 2 years. Special caution is needed when regular applications to broken skin are made to patients with pre-existing renal insufficiency. Regular use should be avoided in patients on concurrent lithium therapy.
Mode of Action
Povidone-iodine is an iodophore with a powerful broad-spectrum germicidal activity against a wide range of bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa and spores. Microbicidal; oxidizes cell constituents; iodinates proteins and inactivates them. Ocular lubricant.

Side Effect
Local skin irritation and sensitivity. Application to large areas of denuded skin may produce systemic effects due to iodine absorption.The application of povidone iodine to large wounds or severe burns may producesystemic adverse effectssuch as metabolic acidosis, hypernatraemia and impairment of renal function.
