Medicine Overview of Nepagen 0.10% Eye Drop
Introduction
Nepagen is a pain relieving medicine. It is used for treatment of pain and inflammation associated with cataract surgery. Always wash your hands before using Nepagen. Use only the number of drops that your doctor has prescribed and wait for about five minutes between each drop. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the drops and wait for at least 15 minutes before putting them back in. You should not touch the tip of the dropper or bottle. How Nepagen works
Nepagen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) which works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling) in the eye.
Quick Tips
- Your doctor has prescribed Nepagen for the relief of post-operative eye pain and inflammation (redness and swelling).
- Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after instilling the drop.
- Usually, a 4 to 6-week course may be necessary.
- Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
- Stinging sensation may occur for 1-2 mins. Notify your doctor if it persists for longer.
- Notify your doctor if you are on blood thinners or have bleeding problems.
- Use the eye drops within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.

Contraindication
Contraindicated in patients with previously demonstrated hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients in the formulation or to other NSAIDs.
Mode of Action
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory prodrug, converted to amfenac which putatively inhibits prostaglandin biosynthesis.
Precaution
Nepafenac should be used with caution in patients with known bleeding tendencies or who are receiving medications which may prolong bleeding time.
