How does Cutis T Shampoo work?

Cutis Tar Shampoo is a combination of two keratolytic medicines: Coal Tar and Salicylic Acid which treat psoriasis. They work by breaking down keratin clumps, removing dead skin cells, and softening the skin.

Psoriasis:

• Psoriasis is a chronic skin disorder characterized by an overactive immune system that accelerates the skin cell turnover process. Skin cells multiply much faster than normal, leading to the accumulation of thick, red patches covered with silvery-white scales.

Direction for use:

1. Apply a generous amount of the solution on the wet scalp.

Interaction

Drug Interactions:

• Cutis Tar Shampoo may interact with other dermatological medicines (adapalene, isotretinoin, trifarotene).
• Interaction with psoriasis medicines (methoxsalen), tumor-treating drugs (porfimer), and eye-related medicines (verteporfin) is also possible.

Drug-Food Interaction: No specific interactions with food have been established. However, managing infections may be more effective by avoiding fatty foods, alcohol, and caffeine.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Brief your doctor about any existing medical conditions, such as kidney/liver diseases, folliculitis, lupus erythematosus, broken or infected skin, diabetes, poor blood circulation, other skin infections, and allergic reactions.

• Refrain from using any skin products containing ammoniated mercury on the same affected areas being treated with Coal tar + Salicylic Acid. This combination can lead to unpleasant odors, skin irritation, and black staining on the skin.
• Coal tar + Salicylic Acid may temporarily discolor blond, bleached, or tinted hair. Individuals with concerns about hair color changes should be aware of this potential effect.
• Before using Coal tar + Salicylic Acid, inform your doctor about your medical history. This includes a history of kidney or liver diseases, folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles), lupus erythematosus (an autoimmune disease), broken or infected skin, diabetes, poor blood circulation, other skin infections, and any allergic reactions to Coal tar + Salicylic Acid or other medicines.
• Pregnant and breastfeeding individuals should consult their doctor before starting Coal tar + Salicylic Acid to ensure the safety of the medication for both the mother and the baby.
• Do not apply dressings or bandages to the affected area unless advised by the doctor.
• Avoid going near naked flames, as fabrics that come in contact with Coal tar and salicylic Acid may burn easily. Washing the fabric may decrease the risk, but it does not completely remove the product.
