Brontject Vet 225mg IM Injection

Description
BrontjectTM Vet IM Injection is the preparation of Cefquinome Sulphate. Cefquinome is a fourth
generation Cephalosporin antibiotic dedicated for veterinary use. It is a β-lactamase resistant
antibiotic.

Indications
For the treatment of bacterial infections in cattle and horses caused by the following Gram positive
and Gram negative microorganisms sensitive to cefquinome:
Cattle:
• Acute E. coli mastitis with signs of systemic involvement
• Respiratory disease caused by Pasteurella multocida and Manheimia haemolytica
• Digital dermatitis, infectious bulbar necrosis and acute interdigital necrobacillosis
Calves:
• E. coli septicaemia
Horses:
• Respiratory disease caused by Streptococcus equi subsp. Zooepidemicus
Foals:
• Severe bacterial infections with a high risk of septicaemia in which E. coli is involved

Mode of Action
BrontjectTM Vet IM Injection is a broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic that belongs to the β-lactum
group. Cefquinome interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis by inhibiting transpeptidase and
carboxipeptidase enzymes of bacteria.

Direction for Reconstitution
For BrontjectTM Vet 225 IM Injection: Add 5 mL diluent into the 225 mg powder vial of BrontjectTM
Vet injection gradually and shake well until the powder dissolved properly.
For BrontjectTM Vet 450 IM Injection: Add 10 mL diluent into the 450 mg powder vial of BrontjectTM
Vet injection gradually and shake well until the powder dissolved properly.

Hypersensitive reactions to cephalosporins occur rarely. In cattle, use of the product may result in
localized tissue reaction. Tissue lesions are repaired 15 days after the last injection.
Contraindications
Should not be administered to the animals hypersensitive to Cephalosporin antibiotics or other βlactam antibiotics or to any of the excipients.

Precautions
• Can be used only under supervision of registered veterinarian
• Complete full course according to the prescription
• Dosage and administration must be as per prescription

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
There is no information on reproductive toxicity in Cattle or Horses. Laboratory studies have not
shown any teratogenic, fetotoxic or maternotoxic effects. Use only according to the benefit/risk
assessment by the responsible veterinarian.
Storage Condition
Do not store above 25 °C temperature. Keep away from light and wet place. Keep out of reach of
children.
Reconstituted solution can be used up to 10 days when stored in a refrigerator (2 °C - 8 °C
temperature).
