Its Usually typically administered orally in the form of powder or granules. The powder or granules are mixed with water and consumed once or twice per day .It is important to take ispaghula husk with plenty of fluids, as it can cause dehydration if not taken with enough water.

Adults and children over 12 years: 1 spoonful with water 2 times daily or as per doctor’s advice.

Children 6 to 12 years: ½ to 1 spoonful with water depending on age and weight.

It is generally considered safe for use in people with renal disease. Patients with kidney disease, should be consult with doctor before using it.

Contraindicated in patients with gastrointestinal tract obstruction or threatening obstruction of the bowel.

Ispaghula husk absorbs water in the intestines, increasing stool bulk and promoting bowel movements. This helps relieve constipation and promote regularity. This increased fiber intake also contributes to cholesterol reduction by reducing the absorption of dietary cholesterol.

Consuming dried husk orally without water may cause problems.

Flatulence, abdominal distension, gastro-intestinal obstruction.

Generally this should not be used during pregnancy . However, it is important to talk with doctor before taking it. Lactation :It does not pass through breast milk. As a result, it can be safely used during lactation.

No significant interaction has been observed with other medicine.
