Pemabet

Pemabet  tablet is indicated as adjunctive therapy to diet to reduce TG in patients with dyslipidemia, including familial hyperlipidemia.

Pemabet  is a selective peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-α) modulator that regulates lipid metabolism. By selectively activating PPAR-α, it enhances the metabolism and clearance of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins, helping to reduce triglyceride (TG) levels and improve HDL-C levels. Its high selectivity and potency for PPAR-α allow it to exert strong lipid-lowering effects while providing a more targeted mechanism of action than conventional fibrates.

Pemabet selectively activates the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-α), which plays an important role in lipid metabolism. This helps improve triglyceride metabolism and may increase HDL-C levels, supporting better lipid control.

The usual adult dose is 0.1 mg orally twice daily, with or without food. The dose may be adjusted according to the patient's age and clinical condition. In patients with significant renal impairment, a lower dose or longer dosing interval may be required, with a maximum dose of 0.2 mg daily.

Gastro-intestinal disorder (e.g. nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal pain), jaundice, skin rashes, gallstones, myotoxicity.

Use Pemabet with caution in patients with liver disease, a history of gallstones, renal impairment, or those taking statins. Monitor liver function and LDL-C levels periodically. Patients taking statins should be monitored for muscle pain, weakness, or other signs of muscle toxicity. Treatment should be stopped and medical attention sought if significant muscle toxicity is suspected.
