Gaco Pharmaceuticals (G.A. Company Ltd) Product List
Gaco Pharmaceuticals is a Bangladeshi manufacturer, and what Arogga carries from it is overwhelmingly an eye and ear range — antibiotic drops, steroid combinations, lubricating drops and an antihistamine drop — with a short list of tablets alongside.
Almost all of it sits under Eye Preparations. The sections below group it by what each preparation does, and the middle of the page covers how to use eye drops safely, which is where most of the harm in this category comes from.
Antibiotic Eye and Ear Drops
- Kilgen Drop Eye Drop 0.50% — moxifloxacin.
- Supraphen Ophthalmic Solution 0.50% — chloramphenicol.
- Cero Eye/Ear Drops 0.30% and Cero Eye Ointment Eye Ointment 0.3% — ciprofloxacin, as drops and as an ointment.
- Lumex Eye/Ear Drops 0.30% — lomefloxacin.
These sit under Ophthalmic Anti-Bacterial and, for the ear-licensed ones, Aural Preparations.
Finish the course
An eye infection often looks better after a day or two and is not finished. Stopping early is how it returns, and it is also how resistance builds in a household that keeps the leftover bottle for next time.
Use it for exactly as long as the prescription says, and do not keep what is left over.
Drops or ointment
Drops are used through the day and blur vision for a moment. An ointment stays in contact far longer and blurs for much longer, which is why it is usually the night-time option. Where both are prescribed, the drops go in during the day and the ointment goes in last thing.
Steroid and Antibiotic Combinations
- Gento HC Eye Drop 10ml — gentamicin with hydrocortisone, and the most opened listing on the brand.
- Methasol N Drop 0.1%+0.5% — betamethasone with neomycin.
- Cerodex Eye/Ear Drops 0.3%+0.1% and Cero HC Eye/Ear Drops 0.3%+0.1% — ciprofloxacin with dexamethasone and with hydrocortisone.
- Tobidex Eye Drop 0.1%+0.3% — tobramycin with dexamethasone.
- Kilgen-D Eye Drop — moxifloxacin with dexamethasone.
Under Combined Ophthalmic Steroid - Antibiotic. The antibiotic treats the infection and the steroid damps down the inflammation that comes with it.
Why these need a diagnosis first
A steroid in the eye is the single riskiest thing in this catalogue used without one. On a viral ulcer — herpes simplex keratitis, which can look like an ordinary red eye — a steroid makes it dramatically worse and can cost sight.
Prolonged use also raises pressure inside the eye and can bring on cataract. That is why these are prescription-only and why a doctor examines the eye before writing one.
Never reuse an old bottle
A combination drop prescribed for one episode is not a general-purpose remedy for the next red eye, and it is not something to pass to a family member. If eyes are red again, they need looking at again.
The same combination as a skin cream
Gento-HC Cream Cream 0.3%+1% carries the same gentamicin-and-hydrocortisone pairing as the eye drop, made up for skin rather than for the eye.
The two are not interchangeable in either direction. A skin preparation is not sterile and must never go in an eye. A steroid cream on the face or on broken skin needs the usual caution too: the shortest course that works, and never on an undiagnosed rash.
Steroid-Only and Non-Steroid Drops
- Olopta 0.1% Eye Drop 0.10% — olopatadine, an antihistamine drop, under Ophthalmic Non-Steroid.
Olopatadine is for allergic eye symptoms — itching above all, with watering and redness. Itch is the signature: an eye that itches is usually allergic, while an eye that hurts is usually not.
A steroid-only drop carries the same cautions as the combinations above, with nothing to offset them, and it is prescribed for the same reason: a doctor has looked at the eye first.
Lubricating Drops
Everfresh Eye Drop 1% is carboxymethylcellulose, an artificial tear, under Dry Eyes.
It is the one preparation here that is not treating an infection or suppressing inflammation. It replaces the watery part of the tear film and can be used as often as needed.
What helps dry eye besides drops
Screen work is the usual culprit, because blinking rate falls sharply when concentrating. Deliberate blinks, breaks away from the screen and moving a fan or air conditioning vent away from your face do more than most people expect.
Dry eye that is persistent, painful or accompanied by blurred vision is worth having examined rather than managed indefinitely with drops.
Ear Drops
Kanis Ear Drops 1% is clotrimazole, an antifungal, under Aural Anti-Fungal within E.N.T Preparations.
A drop labelled for the ear is not automatically for the eye
Several products here state Eye/Ear and are licensed for both. Others are not. Putting an ear-only preparation into an eye is a real and avoidable injury, and the label is the only thing that settles it.
Do not use any ear drop on a perforated eardrum
Unless a doctor has told you to. Some preparations can damage the inner ear if they reach it. Discharge, sudden hearing loss or pain after a burst eardrum needs medical assessment rather than a bottle from a cupboard.
How to Put In an Eye Drop
Most of the complaints about drops not working come down to technique.
The method
Wash your hands. Tilt your head back, pull the lower lid down to make a pocket, and let one drop fall into it without the bottle touching your eye, lid or lashes.
Close the eye gently for a minute afterwards — do not squeeze — and press lightly at the inner corner. That keeps the drop on the eye instead of draining into the nose, and it is the step almost everybody skips.
One drop is the dose
The eye holds far less than a drop, so a second one mostly runs down the cheek. If more than one preparation is prescribed, leave five minutes between them or the first is simply washed out by the second.
Contact lenses come out
Take lenses out before any drop and leave them out while an infection is being treated. Preservatives collect in soft lenses, and an eye being treated for infection should not have a lens in it at all.
Discard the bottle after the stated period
An opened eye drop bottle has a short in-use life — typically about a month — because it becomes contaminated once the tip has been handled. Write the date you opened it on the box, and throw it away on time rather than keeping it for later.
When a Red Eye Needs a Doctor Today
Most red eyes settle. These do not, and none of them should be self-treated with anything on this page.
- Pain in the eye rather than irritation or grittiness.
- Any change in vision, or new sensitivity to light.
- An injury, a chemical splash, or anything that may still be in the eye.
- A contact lens wearer with a red eye.
- A newborn with a sticky or red eye.
A chemical splash is rinsed with plenty of clean water immediately, for as long as you can manage, on the way to getting help.
The Tablets
- Caltate 300 Tablet 300mg — calcium lactate, under Vitamin, Mineral & Nutritional Deficiency.
- B Easy-10 Tablet 10mg — montelukast, for asthma prophylaxis.
- FD-120 Tablet 120mg — fexofenadine, a non-sedating antihistamine.
- Brocef 500 — cefuroxime, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic.
- Esmotac 20 Tablet 20mg and Esmotac 40 Tablet 40mg — esomeprazole, for acid.
A short general list beside the eye range. Montelukast and fexofenadine pair naturally with the allergy drop, since allergic eyes rarely come on their own.
Match the generic, not the brand name
Every one of these is a generic medicine sold under a brand name, and the same molecule is made by many manufacturers. What has to match a prescription is the generic and the strength; the brand on the box is not what was prescribed.
Each listing states its generic. Arogga collects a prescription wherever the law requires one, and a pharmacist checks the order before it is dispatched.
Can the Product List Be Downloaded?
No, and a fixed file would be wrong within days of being made.
The grid above is generated from live stock, so it shows what can actually be ordered today. Registrations change, strengths change and availability changes, and a file does not.
Where Gaco Sits on Arogga
This page collects one manufacturer. A shelf brings together every manufacturer’s version of one molecule, which is what somebody holding a prescription is looking for.
Both the strengths on offer and what is in stock move, and the listing is the only thing that tracks them.
About Gaco Pharmaceuticals
Gaco Pharmaceuticals, registered as G.A. Company Ltd, manufactures in Bangladesh, and its catalogue on Arogga is unusually concentrated: the great majority of it is eye and ear preparations rather than a general outpatient range.
Within that it covers the full set — antibiotic drops in four different molecules, five steroid-and-antibiotic combinations, an antihistamine drop, an artificial tear, an antifungal ear drop and an eye ointment.
It is also searched as Geco Pharmaceutical, which is how the name sounds, and in Bangla as গ্যাকো ফার্মাসিউটিক্যালস. All of those reach this list.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I buy a steroid eye drop without a prescription?
No, and it is the riskiest thing in this catalogue to use without a diagnosis. On a viral ulcer such as herpes simplex keratitis — which can look like an ordinary red eye — a steroid makes it dramatically worse and can cost sight. Prolonged use also raises eye pressure.
2. How do I put in an eye drop properly?
Wash your hands, tilt your head back, pull the lower lid into a pocket and let one drop fall in without the bottle touching eye, lid or lashes. Then close the eye gently for a minute and press lightly at the inner corner — that step keeps the drop on the eye.
3. How long can I keep an opened bottle?
Typically about a month, because the tip becomes contaminated once handled. Write the opening date on the box and discard it on time. Do not keep leftovers for the next episode and do not pass a bottle to someone else.
4. Can I use an ear drop in my eye?
Only if the label says Eye/Ear. Several products here are licensed for both and others are not. Putting an ear-only preparation into an eye is a real and avoidable injury, and the label is the only thing that settles it.
5. Can I wear contact lenses while using drops?
Take them out before any drop, and leave them out entirely while an infection is being treated. Preservatives collect in soft lenses, and an eye under treatment for infection should not have a lens in it.
6. When does a red eye need a doctor the same day?
Pain rather than grittiness, any change in vision or new light sensitivity, an injury or chemical splash, a contact lens wearer with a red eye, or a newborn with a sticky eye. Rinse a chemical splash with plenty of clean water on the way to getting help.
7. Can I download the product list as a file?
No. The grid above is generated from live stock and shows what can be ordered today, which a static file cannot. It prints if you need a written copy to take with you.
