Description

The albumin-to-globulin ratio (AGR) represents the calculated ratio between these two basic proteins and is thought to be a more specific indicator because it is not affected by body fluid balance. AGR is therefore increasingly used in determining the prognosis and severity of many cancers and inflammatory diseases

Overview
The albumin-to-globulin ratio (AGR) represents the calculated ratio between these two basic proteins and is thought to be a more specific indicator because it is not affected by body fluid balance. AGR is therefore increasingly used in determining the prognosis and severity of many cancers and inflammatory diseases
Risk assessment
1. measures the total amount of protein in your blood. There are two major types of protein in the blood: Albumin, which helps keep blood from leaking out of blood vessels 2. to monitor your nutritional status, immune function, and overall health. High or low A/G ratios are particularly associated with kidney and liver disease
Ranges
1.1–2.5
Test result interpretation
A low A/G ratio can also indicate kidney disease as well as liver disease, chronic infections like human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), autoimmune diseases like lupus, and certain cancers. A high A/G ratio may indicate kidney disease, antibody deficiencies, or severe dehydration
Sample types
blood
