Description

This allergy panel is an initial laboratory test used to evaluate whether a person may have an allergic condition. CBC helps assess different blood cells, particularly eosinophils, which often increase in allergic conditions. Total IgE measures the overall level of allergy related antibodies in the blood.

How our test process works!

Step 1

Sample Collection

Vaccinated Phlebotomists collects from syringe in the barcoded vials

Step 2

Sample Storage

Only vaccinated phelbos are assigned orders

Step 3

High Tech Facility

Lab ingests the sample into processing machines which are 100% automated

Step 4

Accurate Digital Reports

The reports are generated by the processing machines and clinically correlated by doctors

Overview

Total IgE Level

  • Overview: Measures the total amount of IgE antibodies in the blood, indicating overall allergic sensitivity.

Complete Blood Count

  • Overview: Measures the percentage or absolute number of eosinophils in blood, a type of white blood cell involved in allergic reactions and parasitic infections.

Risk Assessment

Total IgE Level

    • Risk Assessment: Helps screen for atopic conditions like asthma, eczema, allergic rhinitis.

Eosinophil Count

    • Risk Assessment: Helps assess severity and activity of allergic or parasitic conditions.
Normal Range

Total IgE Level

  • Normal Range: Usually < 100–150 IU/mL (varies by lab and age)

Immunoglobulin E (Specific IgE)

  • Normal Range: Negative or below lab-specific cutoff (usually <0.35 kU/L)

Eosinophil Count

  • Normal Range: Typically 1–4% of total white blood cells or 100–400 cells/µL

Interpretation

Total IgE Level

  • Interpretation:

    • Elevated levels suggest increased allergic activity or parasitic infection.

    • Low or normal levels do not exclude allergy.

  •

Immunoglobulin E (Specific IgE)

  • Interpretation:

    • Positive test indicates sensitization to that allergen, supporting allergy diagnosis.

    • Does not always correlate with clinical symptoms (sensitization vs. allergy).

Eosinophil Count

  • Interpretation:

    • Elevated eosinophils indicate allergic inflammation, asthma, parasitic infection, or some autoimmune diseases.

    • Normal levels do not rule out allergy.

Sample Type

Total IgE Level

  • Sample Type: Serum (venous blood)

Eosinophil Count

  • Sample Type: Whole blood (CBC with differential)
