Description

Oestrogel is a transdermal estrogen gel containing 17-β-Estradiol, which is chemically identical to the natural estrogen produced by the human ovaries. It is a bioidentical estrogen derived from a plant source and formulated as a transparent, colorless, fragrance-free gel for application on the skin.

Because Oestrogel is applied through the skin (percutaneous route), it allows estradiol to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream, bypassing first-pass metabolism in the liver. This makes it especially suitable for patients who cannot tolerate or should not take oral estrogen therapy.

Oestrogel is supplied in a tube containing 80 g of gel, delivering 60 mg of 17-β-estradiol, and is approved by the U.S. FDA for use in hormone replacement therapy.

Uses of Oestrogel

Oestrogel is used in Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for the treatment and prevention of conditions caused by estrogen deficiency, including:

• Relief of moderate to severe menopausal symptoms (hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness)

• Prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women

• Hypogonadism (low estrogen levels)

• Atrophic vaginitis
