How to use Epastat 50
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Epastat 50 may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How Epastat 50 works
Epastat 50 is an aldose reductase inhibitor. It blocks the accumulation of sorbitol in cells, which has been related to causing diabetic nerve disease.
What if you forget to take Epastat 50?
If you miss a dose of Epastat 50, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Quick Tips
Adherence to antidiabetic therapy can delay the onset of or prevent diabetic nerve disease.
If you have existing diabetic nerve disease, wear proper footwear and examine your feet every day to detect lesions early.
If you have a foot injury or open wound, avoid engaging in weight-bearing activities.
