Description

The Complete Blood Count (CBC) is a blood test used to evaluate overall health and detect a wide range of disorders, including anemia, infection, and many other diseases. It measures several components and features of your blood, including red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and platelets. Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) Test Description: English: The Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) test measures how quickly red blood cells settle at the bottom of a test tube containing a blood sample. A faster-than-normal rate may indicate inflammation in the body.

How our test process works!

Step 1

Sample Collection

Vaccinated Phlebotomists collects from syringe in the barcoded vials

Step 2

Sample Storage

Only vaccinated phelbos are assigned orders

Step 3

High Tech Facility

Lab ingests the sample into processing machines which are 100% automated

Step 4

Accurate Digital Reports

The reports are generated by the processing machines and clinically correlated by doctors

Overview

CBC Overview:

  • A CBC measures the levels of different components in blood, including red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs), hemoglobin (Hb), hematocrit (HCT), and platelets.
  • It helps diagnose and monitor conditions like anemia, infections, blood disorders, and overall health.

Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR):

Overview:

  • Measures how quickly RBCs settle in a tube over a specific time (usually an hour).
  • Indicates inflammation or infection.
Risk assessment

1. Complete Blood Count (CBC)

Risk Assessment:

  • Helps detect:
    • Anemia (low RBC/Hb).
    • Infections (elevated WBC count).
    • Platelet abnormalities (risk of bleeding or clotting).
    • Leukemia or other bone marrow issues.

2. Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR)

Risk Assessment:

  • Used to evaluate:
    • Chronic inflammation (e.g., arthritis, lupus).
    • Infections.
    • Cancers.
    • Autoimmune conditions.

Ranges

1. Complete Blood Count (CBC):

Normal Ranges (may vary slightly by lab):

  • RBC: 4.7–6.1 million/μL (men), 4.2–5.4 million/μL (women).
  • WBC: 4,500–11,000/μL.
  • Hemoglobin (Hb): 13.8–17.2 g/dL (men), 12.1–15.1 g/dL (women).
  • Hematocrit (HCT): 40.7%–50.3% (men), 36.1%–44.3% (women).
  • Platelets: 150,000–450,000/μL.

2. Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR):

Normal Ranges (may vary slightly):

  • Men: 0–15 mm/hr.
  • Women: 0–20 mm/hr.
  • Children: 0–10 mm/hr.

Test result interpretation

Complete Blood Count (CBC):

Interpretation:

  • Low RBC, Hb, HCT: Anemia or blood loss.
  • High RBC, Hb, HCT: Dehydration, polycythemia.
  • High WBC: Infection, inflammation, leukemia.
  • Low WBC: Immune suppression or marrow issues.
  • Low Platelets: Risk of bleeding.
  • High Platelets: Inflammatory disorders or clotting risks.

Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR):

Interpretation:

  • Elevated ESR: Indicates inflammation, infection, or autoimmune diseases.
  • Normal or Low ESR: Likely no significant inflammation.

Sample types

Sample Type:

  • Whole Blood: Collected in a black-top or lavender-top tube.
