Mode of Action

Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by interfering with peptidoglycan formation, leading to bacterial cell lysis and death. It is well absorbed after oral administration and is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Dosage and Administration

Dosage depends on animal species, body weight, and severity of infection. Always use under veterinary supervision.

General Dosage Guidelines:

• Poultry:
  15–30 mg per kg body weight
  or
  1 g per 3–5 liters of drinking water for 3–5 days

• Livestock:
  25–45 mg per kg body weight for 3–5 days

• Dogs and Cats:
  30–60 mg per kg body weight for 5 days

Contraindications

• Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to penicillin or amoxicillin

• Not effective against beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
