Overview

The Diabetes Package is designed to evaluate blood sugar control, kidney function, and detect early complications of diabetes. It combines tests for immediate blood glucose, long-term glucose control, urine abnormalities, and renal function.

Risk Assessment

• Early Detection: Identifies prediabetes and diabetes.

• Monitoring: Helps assess long-term glucose control and response to therapy.

• Complications: Detects kidney involvement (proteinuria, abnormal urine findings, raised creatinine).

• Risk Factors: Uncontrolled blood sugar increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, neuropathy, nephropathy, and retinopathy.

Normal Range (General Reference)

• FBS: 70 – 99 mg/dL (Normal)

• PPBS: < 140 mg/dL (Normal)

• HbA1c: < 5.7% (Normal), 5.7–6.4% (Prediabetes), ≥ 6.5% (Diabetes)

• Urine R/E: No glucose, protein, or ketones; normal cells and crystals.

• Serum Creatinine: 0.6 – 1.2 mg/dL (varies slightly with gender/age).

Interpretation

• Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS): Indicates baseline glucose control.

• Postprandial Blood Sugar (PPBS): Shows body’s ability to handle glucose after meals.

• HbA1c: Reflects average blood sugar control over 2–3 months.

• Urine R/E: Detects sugar, protein, ketones, and other abnormalities suggesting renal or metabolic complications.

• Serum Creatinine: Assesses kidney function and possible diabetic nephropathy.
